MATERIA Y ESENCIA DE MIRNA SALAMANQUES

Los discursos plasticos están impregnados de las inquietudes y de la visión íntima de los artistas. Sin embargo, el surgimiento de tendencias -esas corrientes del pensamiento que envuelven y definen epocas y momentos históricos para el colectivo- se deslizan de alguna manera, y terminan siendo retratadas en la obra, con las particularidades y la intencionalidad de los hacedores de arte.
Hoy, la atención se detiene en Mirna Salamanqués, quien presenta el producto de su trayectoria plástica contenida en una selección antológica de 39 años de búsqueda e investigación.
A Mirna se le percibe como una viajera sensible que ha cabalgado diferentes momentos en el horizonte de las artes contemporaneas, guiada por los intuitivos mapas que le trazarían la época y el tiempo histórico.
En los años 60, cuando Salamanqués hacía sus composiciones de grafismos, inspirados en elos espejos de agua del Jardín Botánico de Caracas, ya aportaba los indicios de lo que sería la esencia y proyección de sus frutos artísticos venideros. Motivada por una sensible actitud contemplativa, reinterpretó a la naturaleza y al entorno.
Estos fueron los años dedicados a crear urbes imaginarias plenas de grafismos, moradas de fantasía, en espacios ignotos para el espectador, pero reconocibles para ella. Los ensayos con el "collage" le impulsaron a utilizar recortes de revistas intervenidos con trazos de dibujo y color, dignificando el material de desecho en aras de la creación.
Sus actividades como miembro fundador de la Galería Universitaria de Arte de la UCV le permitieron desarrollar otra faceta, gracias a los vínculos con instituciones que le abrirían las perspectivas de proyección internacional, viaja a Bulgaria y a otros países europeos. Su visita a la ciudad de Praga coincide con la invasión rusa, se apresura a abandonar la ciudad, no sin antes captar la esencia del paisaje, que traduciría de regreso a Venezuela, interpretando con formas policromadas, la majestuosidad de ésa arquitectura.
Para Salamanqués, Praga es la reflexión sobre la belleza que desea mantener imperecedera por encima de cualquier suceso amenazante. Este capítulo es clave para entender la posición de Mirna Salamanqués frente al hecho artístico. En una decada signada por protestas, marchas, guerrillas, guerras, custionamiento al orden establecido, polarización política capitalismo-comunismo, el fenomeno "hippie", el Mayo Francés, y por otras pugnas, esta artista no se involucró en los "fuegos" de la época, decidió prescindír de lo dramático, para reflejar lo armonioso a través de sus formas expresivas.
Frente al caos del planeta surge para ella una alternativa: el Universo inexplorado se presenta como una utopía de paz, y deviene la representación -al estilo del comic- de una serie dedicada a Yuri Gagarín, el primer cosmonauta soviético.
La fascinación por el gran espacio exterior se mantendrá presente en sus futuras propuestas.
El Ensamblaje de los objetos aguarda en la década de los 70.
Son caracterísiticos a ésta época el uso del papel como soporte, el spray como materia pictórica, la incorporación de elementos de desecho industrial -tales como rejillas, fragmentos de piezas de plástico, y metalicas entre otros- los cuales le servirán para procurar una imagen negativo-positiva en el plano pictórico que en un principio, fue monocromatico.
